BTEC Sport and Active Leisure is a course designed for pupils with a keen interest in sport and fitness who would like the opportunity to develop their knowledge and understanding of the subject. The course combines practical activity with classroom work with students creating a portfolio of work for assessment.
A variety of skills including leadership, team work, confidence and communication will be developed throughout the course. All learners will have the opportunity to gain experience in a variety of sports including; archery, rock climbing, rugby, rowing, uni hoc, fencing to name a few.
This course will give learners an ideal introduction to the world of work in the sports industry, as well as developing essential skills required for any employment or progression to further qualifications and training.
The course is made up of units which may include:
- Taking part in exercise and fitness
- Managing your health at work
- Individual rights and responsibilities
- Managing social relationships
- Health and safety at work
- Healthy eating
- Making most of leisure time
- Preparation for work
Students will be assessed in a variety of ways including
- Practical demonstrations
- Written assignments
BTEC Sport and Active Leisure is a fantastic fun course for those that enjoy sport. Learners are given the appropriate support they need to help them achieve this qualification. Year 1 learners will gain a Level 1 AWARD (7 credits) and year 2 will gain a Level 1 CERTIFICATE ( 13 credits).
